What can you expect from me?

Hope you've been well since yesterday!

So in my last blog I left you with a question... what can you expect from a Pilates class with me? ....well....

Let's get the boring but important thing done first. A little bit of paperwork to take down some personal details (I won't send you any spam mail I promise!) and a form called a PAR-Q. Basically this form tells me if there is any reason why you may not be able to undertake my class. This will be kept private as I want you to have a safe, effective and fun class and return every week.

Once that's done, take your shoes off, grab a mat and find a space. Once everyone is ready, I'll introduce myself, tell you a bit about what we're going to do today then off we go.

We always start with the set-up. This runs through good posture, some breathing techniques, and talking over the pelvic floor (yep I said it! It's important for both women and men!).

Moving on to warming up. This is where we mobilise your joints and muscles; preparing you for the class ahead. Then we're at the main section. Here we will go through a range of exercises, starting at a basic level and progressing to more challenging exercises. After the main section, we start to cool down and recover by stretching those muscles we've just used.

And then you’re done!

A very quick overview but please don't worry! I have been in your shoes before and I understand how it feels when you don't know anyone, or the moves. Think of your first (free!) class as an orientation class; a taster to see what it's all about. Let's be honest, if someone is looking at you, they may well be resting or even thinking how amazing you look! Of course you’re allowed to rest but sharp-eyed instructors will always see!

All I ask is that you give it a go. If after a few weeks you really don't enjoy it, please come and talk to me; I don't bite!

Enough from me, in my next blog I will answer a question I was asked only a few days ago… What do you do in a Pilates personal training session?

Take care. Gray. x
